A third of Britons now have more virtual friends than
face-to-face companions, according to the latest research. Hi-tech communication tools allow people who
work long hours to maintain a social life, with 15.6 million - and counting -
using e-mail, text and networking sites to catch up with friends without
actually meeting them.
