Foster
Care Central merges Web 2.0 technology and social networking to give
its members convenient, easy access to foster care information and
resources
Elk Grove, CA. (PRWEB)
February 28, 2008 - A California social worker is taking an innovative,
high-tech approach to solving a longstanding problem. Stewart Gordon
has launched FosterCareCentral.org to bring information, resources and
people together to improve the lives of foster-care children
nationwide.

Foster Care Central is the first social network for people dedicated
to enhancing the lives of foster youth, according to Gordon. The free
Website capitalizes on the power of Web 2.0 technology and the
popularity of social networking to offer a variety of interactive
features, including discussion forums, resource listings, groups,
videos, and education and training.
"Foster Care Central recognizes that the current foster-care system is
broken and uses the knowledge from all those within the system to
recognize the problems and create solutions for better outcomes for
foster youth," Gordon said.
Gordon created Foster Care Central to bring attention and change to the
nation's forgotten and most vulnerable population--the 500,000-plus
children in the nation's foster care system. He launched the site out
of frustration and a strong desire to make a difference. "I got fed up
with the lack of the children's success in foster care and the
tragedies that happen to youth when they 'age out' of the system at 18
and have no permanent connections," said Gordon, who works in one of
the country's biggest problem areas.
