Kaboose Launches First Series of New Widgets
TORONTO/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Kaboose Inc. (TSX: KAB),
one of the largest family-focused new media companies in the world,
today announced the release of its first three web widgets. These and
upcoming widgets enable moms to take Kaboose.com and BabyZone.com
content and tools with them and make them a more intimate and
accessible part of their online experience. Craft Finder, Recipe Finder
and Growing Baby are just the first in a series of more than ten
releases planned for 2008. These widgets mark the beginning of a
multi-year initiative to syndicate and distribute the core consumer
features on the Kaboose family of sites out to the web at large.
Each month, Kaboose inspires and empowers millions of moms with its
fun craft ideas and family-friendly recipes. Now, not only can moms
enjoy this content on Kaboose.com, but also use the Craft Finder and
Recipe Finder widgets to find thousands of craft ideas and recipes
directly from their desktops, personal webpages or social networking
profiles.
The Growing Baby widget on BabyZone enables new moms to track the
progress of their pregnancy and growth of their new baby with
personalized weekly updates. BabyZone.com already delivers the most
engaging experience within the pregnancy/baby category. On average,
each of the expecting and new moms on the site viewed 30% more pages
and spent 50% more time with BabyZone.com than with the leading
competitor's site within the pregnancy/baby category (comScore, March
2008). The Growing Baby widget will make it even easier for new and
expecting moms to benefit from the over 100,000 pages of relevant
content on BabyZone.com based on their own personal timeline.
"Research shows that our properties attract moms who are
tech-savvy," said Craig Wallace, President and Chief Operating Officer
of Kaboose. "We recognize that they have very busy lives and have
specifically designed our tools and content to help them more easily
plan and organize their family experiences. Our widgets make it easier
than ever to access our content and services in whatever manner is most
convenient for them: directly from our sites, their desktops or their
personal webpages. These easy-to-use applications will further
strengthen our relationship with our moms and families, and continue to
provide a leading channel for advertisers to reach this highly coveted
audience."
A widget is a mini-application that users can add to their desktop
via the Yahoo!, Apple or MSN widget platforms, to their webpage or
blog, including Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, LiveJournal or iGoogle,
and to their social network sites, such as MySpace and Facebook, plus
several other places online.
All three widgets are available at http://widgets.kaboose.com/ and www.babyzone.com/widgets.
