Teaches independent bloggers the inside tips and techniques of professional journalists.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) -- Organizers of the BlogWorld & New Media Expo
announced they will be offering a professional training certificate
workshop designed to give bloggers an inside edge by covering important
journalistic techniques including investigative reporting practices,
fact sourcing, and styles of opinion writing. The workshop will be held
alongside BlogWorld Expo's Executive & Entrepreneur Conference on
September 19th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Bloggers attending the workshop will receive an official BlogWorld
"blogger journalist" certification and Web icon for greater credibility
and distinct brand differentiation.
"More than 120,000 new blogs are created every day. We created this
workshop in partnership with Dr. David Perlmutter to help the
independent blogger break into this saturated market and find success -
whether that's building readership, getting attention from major
bloggers and the mass media, becoming a profitable small business, or
even influencing public opinion, the press agenda, and government
policy," said BlogWorld Expo founder, Rick Calvert. "Dr.Perlmutter's
esteemed panel of instructors will teach the codes, rules, protocols,
precepts, practices, styles and content preferences of the professional
journalist."
The workshop's host and organizer is David D. Perlmutter, Ph.D, a
professor at the William Allen White School of Journalism & Mass
Communications, University of Kansas. In addition to blogging at http://policybyblog.squarespace.com,
Dr. Perlmutter is the author or editor of seven books on political
communication and persuasion, has written well over 15 essays for U.S.
and International newspapers and magazines, and has been interviewed by
most major news networks and newspapers, from the New York Times to
CNN, ABC, and The Daily Show.
Other instructors include Stephen J. Berry, a Pulitzer Prize-winning
reporter and associate professor of journalism at the University of
Iowa and Jay Perkins, an associate professor at the Manship School of
Mass Communication, Louisiana State University.
Workshop sessions cover key areas affecting "blogger journalism," including:
- Journalism Content & Style: How to Write and Sound Like a Pro
- Finding What's Out There: Searching, Sifting, and Selecting the Best Information
- Blog Law 101: Press Legal Issues & Questions that Affect Bloggers
