College & University Pressroom
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BlogHer, one of the top women’s
online networks and the Web’s number one guide
to blogs by women, is launching its first ever Reach Out Tour
this October, stopping in six U.S. cities, to host lively one-day
conferences. The success of the annual conferences prompted BlogHer to
embark on a two-week tour to give local bloggers a more intimate
environment to discuss blogging basics, lead sessions on local themes
and network with their community. With the emphasis on blogging basics,
BlogHer hopes to bring new faces to the events to encourage women to
blog about their interests and realize the joys of being part of a
community. Students are eligible for a 20% discount on registration when
they register online at http://www.blogher.com/blogher_conference/conf
and enter the code STUDENT08.
The three BlogHer co-founders will kick off the tour in Boston on
October 11 and then continue on to five additional cities. The tour
schedule includes:
-
Washington, DC – October 13
-
Nashville, TN – October 16
-
Greensboro, NC – October 18
-
Atlanta, GA – October 21
-
New Orleans, LA – October 25
“For this Reach Out Tour, we want to
bring the most energizing and educational highlights of our annual
conference to encourage bright and diverse women to blog and use the
BlogHer community as a way to educate themselves and connect with other
active and interesting women,” said BlogHer
COO and co-founder Elisa Camahort Page. “Students,
in particular, are an important demographic in seeding any online
community as they provide fresh and educated perspectives on a wide
range of topics and we would like to see a strong student representation
at these events.”
These one-day conferences will feature a Blogging Basics track for new
and beginning bloggers, an all-day Geek Lab for BlogHer geeks led by
Sarah Dopp and a custom track that will feature a topic resonating with
each scheduled city.
The Reach Out Tour is the first of many to come, as BlogHer aims
to fulfill its mission of creating opportunities for exposure,
education, community and economic empowerment for more of its members.
