Mobile Recommendations Service, Goodrec, Goes Live With Over 100,000 Recommendations
Company Launches Out of Beta and Unveils New iPhone Application
SAN FRANCISCO/PRNewswire/ -- Goodrec, the mobile and
online recommendation service, launched today with over 100,000
recommendations made by its users since the introduction of its Beta
service at TechCrunch 50, in September 2008.
Now anyone can view the recommendations on Goodrec
(www.goodrec.com), and access the 725,000 listings for restaurants,
nightlife, movies and more. And, with simple 'Thumbs Up', 'Thumbs Down'
recommendations and short quicktips, it's easy to find and make
recommendations by and for your friends, enabling personal informed
decisions when at home or on-the-go.
Additionally, users will soon be able to download the company's new
"GoodFood" iPhone application, which is dedicated to making it easier
and faster to find and share restaurant recommendations. Registered
users can continue to use the company's "Goodrec" iPhone application to
make and request recommendations in any category.
"We offer a unique and easy way to make recommendations from a
mobile phone," said Mihir Shah, CEO and Co-Founder of Goodrec. "Over
50% of our recommendations come from a mobile and our Beta users have
already embraced the ability to quickly share their recommendations and
photos right after an experience. We are excited to launch broad access
to our recommendations both online and on our new GoodFood iPhone
application."
Goodrec's mobile applications take advantage of the iPhone's
location-based capabilities, giving users the power to quickly find
places around them that friends have recommended. In addition to being
easy to scan when users are out and about, Goodrec's recommendations
have also proven to be addictive, with many users making over a hundred
in a single day.
Goodrec also has the capability for users to ask the Goodrec
community for recommendations. With "Request Recommendations" users can
post questions, personalize their requests, and pick friends from their
email contacts or Facebook that they would like an answer from. Whether
they are looking for restaurants to visit during their next vacation or
the best book to help with managing their finances, "Request
Recommendations" is an easy way for users to harness the knowledge of
their friends.
