Grenada board of tourism ‘spices up’ stylist with augmented reality



First overseas destination to embrace new technology in UK



London, UK ---- Grenada Board of Tourism’s marketing agency Eyes2market in partnership with British Airways will ‘spice up’ the UK’s best-read women’s glossy magazine, Stylist, on Wednesday 24 July with a handheld augmented reality experience to showcase the Caribbean island’s beaches, hotels and attractions. Grenada, known as The Spice Isle due to the prevalence of nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cinnamon, is the first long haul tourist board to embrace technology that enables readers of Stylist to ‘bring alive’ the page and explore the holiday destination with an interactive audio visual tour.

Created by Plus Two Ltd, using Aurasma (a HP Autonomy company), technology enables the use of rich images to turn search into an action-oriented interactive experience. Aurasma’s visual search delivers augmented animations, images and videos to smartphones and tablets.

Stylist readers - who number over 433,000* each week will have access to free-to-use information about where to stay and what to do in Grenada by enabling their mobile device to reveal videos and images in addition to mini-guides to dining out, attractions and accommodation. Exclusive AR content is supported by an online competition to win a seven night stay for two adults at the four-star Mount Cinnamon Hotel including return flights from London Gatwick with British Airways.
