Online TV network Veoh appoints staff from Google and Dow Jones

Rachel Hawkes (Social Media Portal) - 16 January 2008

Online TV network Veoh Networks plans to develop new advertising solutions, and have made two big appointments from Dow Jones and Google to lead their Sales teams.

Veoh, whose users have consumed more than 215 million streams in December 2007 and in excess of 30 million hours of content will also open an office in New York.

Steve Mitgang, CEO of Veoh says,  “Advertisers want more effective ways to connect with their audiences and extend their brands online, and that’s exactly what Veoh offers. We’re expanding our sales leadership so that we can deliver even more innovative advertising opportunities across Veoh’s vast universe of branded and independent video content.  As the Web increasingly becomes an extension of the TV experience, Veoh’s comprehensive programming and highly engaged community will be a beacon for targeted marketing programs.”

The appointments follow a year of growth at Veoh, who have seen their audience size of over 20% per month - reaching over 23 million unique users every month.

Earlier this week, video sharing site Dailymotion announced the introduction of three new in-video advertising tools and ad network VideoEgg announced partnerships with content sites imeem, Buzznet and MetaCafe.
