Similar to other sites in the market, such as Last.fm and Pandora, Jango allows users to create and share their own personalised music stations.

Jango's chief executive officer Dan Kaufman says, "We?re thrilled at how popular the site has become ? and how quickly.  People love that it?s so easy to get the music they want ? and how natural Jango makes it to socialize through music. Our users tune in to each other all the time and it?s incredible how much social interaction goes on.?

Additionally, Jango have released a music widget called Jango Jukebox that users can embed on their MySpace profile, website or blog.  The Jango Jukebox streams free, full-length songs from any artist the user chooses.  It also has personalised skins such as leopard fur or snakeskin for added effect.

?Until now, music widgets have been surprisingly drab and boring. The Jango Jukebox is the first music widget that?s really cool looking and fun to use ? perfect for anyone who wants to spice up their MySpace page,? continued Kaufman.

Jango Jukebox will launch in Facebook shortly.

The announcement comes on the very day that arguably the most popular service in the sector Pandora was forced to block access to UK listeners, after they could not reach a feasible licence fee agreement with the MCPS/PRS and the PPL.

According to the press release Jango issued today, they are fast approaching the 'first tier market leaders' which was measured from Compete.com.  According to Compete, unique US visitors to Jango for December was 423,000 with Last.fm receiving 990,000 amd Pandora more than both sites combined at 1,596,000.

Jango is licensed by ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SoundExchange in the United States.
