Omnisio, a provider of online video customisation technology, has been bought by Google-owned YouTube.  The mind-child of three young Australians, it offers a panel of options for personalising video content found on video sharing sites such as YouTube or daily motion.

The applications on offer enable cut out the sequences that really interest them and assemble clips from different videos to produce their own sports or fashion show, and tag in friends and highlights so that relevant parts can be easily found.  Social interaction features take pride of place, with the ability to add comments directly to videos and post them on the user’s profile page or blog.  Videos can be paired up and synchronised with relevant photo sequences so that both appear side by side in integrated slide-show presentation functionality.

The site’s three co-founders, Ryan Junee, Julian Frumar and Simon Ratner, intend to continue to develop new features in collaboration with their new parent company, commenting that, "together we'll apply what we've learned about the space, and we'll work to develop innovative products and features for the YouTube community.  We believe we've only scratched the surface in terms of what's possible with online video, and we are really looking forward to taking the video viewing – and creating – experience to the next level."

Their confidence is echoed by YouTube’s announcement of the purchase on its official blog, telling users that, "As you probably guessed, we’re big fans of anything that lets people interact with online video and gives the YouTube community the chance to express themselves in creative ways.  It’s in this spirit that we’re thrilled to announce Google’s purchase of Omnisio, a small California-based start-up that’s focused on making online video more useful and collaborative."

Founded less than six months ago, Omnisio is reported to have sold for upwards of $15 million.
