Hulu and Viacom announce content partnership

Entertainment network Viacom has announced a content partnership with online TV website Hulu to bring many of the networks popular TV shows to the web.

The agreement sees Hulu hosting the return of satire shows The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, available on Hulu Plus.  Additionally, a range of other Viacom programs will be made available to paid Plus subscribers, including The Chapelle Show, Real World, Punk?d and Beavis & Butthead.

Viacom?s president and chief executive officer Phillippe Dauman comments, ?We are very pleased to partner with Hulu in a way that recognizes the value of our strong brands and the passionate young fans who are attracted to our content.  The Hulu Plus service offers us the opportunity to connect with our audiences through an exciting subscription and ad supported platform that is complementary to our existing distribution arrangements.?

A range of other shows from Viacom?s networks of channels will be added to Hulu, including shows from MTV, Comedy Central, BET and VH1.

?This innovative agreement allows us to benefit from the success and expansion of Hulu and we look forward to bringing our popular content to their growing audience,? concludes Dauman.

Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
