Star Trek Into Darkness gets Super Bowl treatment as Paramount Pictures chooses Android for exclusive content movie app


Paramount Pictures Corporation has given the widely anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness movie the Super Bowl treatment, releasing its app through Google Play, following its extended debut TV spot.

Through an exclusive look at the movie with an extended Super Bowl spot, the first-of-a-kind movie app (as described by Paramount Pictures), gives users that downloaded it exclusive access.  By using the movie app, in addition to other exclusive content app users will be the first to to be able to buy cinema tickets available two days ahead of the films official release on 17 May 2013.

With auto-accomplish missions the content driven platform offers users the ability to navigate their way throughout the Star Trek Academy in addition exclusive opportunities and special offers only available via the app.

Paramount highlights some of the apps most attractive features being location-based functionality to encourage users to go to the movie; automatic audio scanning allowing users to be rewarded for watching the films content on TV and other media; image scanning to interact with printed material and delivery of new images, video, wallpapers and other content direct to mobile devices.

Star Trek Into Darkness is the second instalment from the rebooted movie franchise directed by J.J. Abrams reuniting the cast from the first Start Trek movie including Karl Urban (Bones), Chris Pine (James T. Kirk), (Zoe Saldana) Nyota Uhura, Zachary Quinto (Spock), Anton Yelchin (Pavel Chekov), John Cho (Hikaru Sulu), Simon Pegg (Scotty) in addition to new comers Alice Eve (Dr, Carol Marcus), Peter Weller and Benedict Cumberbatch (as the infamous Khan).
