Aha App Now Provides National Traffic Coverage and Adds New Features That Enable Drivers to Automatically Share Voice Tweets on Twitter and Facebook

Aha Mobile logoPALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aha Mobile Inc., a company that keeps drivers informed about the world around them by safely connecting them to both crowd-sourced and web-based road and destination information, today announced that its free Aha App on the App Store now provides national traffic coverage. With the Aha App, drivers simply tap their iPhone, speak for up to 15 seconds and, without taking their eyes off the road, safely broadcast voice tweets, known as Aha Shouts, to drivers nearby. New features launching today also let drivers post Aha Shouts automatically to Twitter and Facebook for others to hear.

The Aha App allows drivers to Shout about all types of things – from reporting on traffic bottlenecks and speed traps to venting about a crazy driver in the next lane. Or, if drivers just want to listen in and benefit from the information others are sharing, they can do that too. With Aha’s new Facebook and Twitter integration, drivers can customize which types of Shouts go to each of their social networks. For example, a driver can choose to send only their Traffic Shouts to Twitter, but opt to post their “road rage” or Caraoke Shouts to Facebook. Posts are automatically created and populated with the type of Shout, the user’s current location and speed (for Traffic Shouts), any text added by the user during set-up, and most importantly a link to play the Shout.

“Whether it’s mission critical information like a traffic jam report from the driver a mile ahead of you or simply the laugh you get listening to someone describe their frustration with another car that just cut them off, drivers like the ability to connect to one another on the road,” said Robert Acker, CEO of Aha Mobile. ”Through Aha’s voice-based system, drivers can now extend the reach of their Shouts by safely and automatically sharing them with their existing social networks.”

The Aha App now provides national coverage in the U.S., with specific emphasis on the top traffic markets including: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington DC, New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, and Seattle. The company will continue to add additional roads to its traffic network throughout the fall.

"Consumer interest in the connected car has grown steadily over the last three years," says Thilo Koslowski, vice president and automotive practice leader at Gartner. "Successful applications will enhance the driving experience by combining an optimized user interface with web-based data such as real-time traffic, personalized search and location information."

Key Features of the Aha App include:

* A unique 65MPH interface that provides key information that can be reviewed at-a-glance with large, consistent touch areas, much like car radio preset buttons.

* Personalized traffic reports created from both fellow drivers and the best industry sources (INRIX and Clear Channel). Contribute to the Aha community with Shouts or just listen in and benefit from others.

* Quickly see traffic flow and travel times.

* Hungry? Need coffee? Need a bathroom? Automatically and continuously search top sources including Yelp! and SitOrSquat for results based on your preset preferences.

* Worried about red light or speed cameras? Get an alert when you are approaching one with info from

* Satisfy your inner idol in the national Caraoke room.

* Safely vent about the crazy drivers around you in the Bad Driver Shout Room.

The Aha App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone or at

About Aha Mobile, Inc.

Aha improves your driving experience by keeping you informed about the world around you while you are on the road. To do this, we built the first driver-to-driver network that connects drivers to live traffic reports from each other and to relevant information from the Internet. With our 65 MPH safe-driver design, we give you a simpler way to communicate and stay informed behind the wheel that doesn’t involve entering text or studying a small map. You can record and share your own personal traffic reports to help those around you, or listen to a customized traffic channel on the roads you travel. Aha also alerts you to the nearby things you need – like a great cup of coffee or a restroom. With Aha, drivers share their experiences with one another and help each other on the road.

Founded in 2008, Aha began by building a connected back-end platform that can power any number of devices – from portable electronics to in-car systems. Through our first application, designed for the iPhone, we created a 65 MPH interface (information is delivered audibly or in at-a-glance visual formats) that gives drivers the answers they need while minimizing driving distractions.

Based in Palo Alto, CA, Aha is backed by Venrock and led by a team of executives with nearly four decades of experience developing automotive and location-based services applications.
