The China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) is a state-level, international hi-tech event held annually in Shenzhen. It is approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China and jointly hosted by nine government departments and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. Since its inception in 1999, the CHTF has provided a platform for technology companies all over the world to showcase their technological achievements, exchange information, identify collaboration partners and explore business opportunities. It is one of the most influential events for high-technology sectors in China, and is reputed as the No. 1 Technology Show in China.

The CHTF 2009 will be held in the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov. 16 to Nov. 21, with a theme of "Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Development," occupying an area of 130,000 square meters, divided into six sectors -- Commercialization of Technological Innovations, Specialized Show, Forums, Special Events, Hi-tech Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange, and the Year-Round Fair. Each sector of CHTF tracks the economic situation during the current financial crisis and creates opportunities to promote economic and technological exchange and cooperation for exhibitors.

This year, the CHTF will showcase achievements of the national "Ten key industrial restructurings and revitalizations of planning", focusing on electronic information, equipment manufacturing, automobile, shipping, iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemical, light industry, textile and logistics industries.
