AS: Prior to joining QUIZ in April this year, I had been interning within the company for six-months in a similar role whilst also working in retail. I was then lucky enough to be offered a permanent position as social media assistant.

SMP: Briefly, what does your job entail and what does a typical day look like?

AS: Every day is about providing relevant and exciting content for our followers and customers. This can be from promoting a best seller within an in house photoshoot or pushing blog posts on the latest celebrity gossip.

SMP: What makes it a great job?

AS: Each day I learn something new. I am constantly thinking of new ways and ideas to improve our social channels and promote our products. It is important we keep up with competitors but also provide unique content that promotes our own brand identity.

SMP: How did you initially attract users to site, social channels et al and how do you do it now?

AS:
At first it?s all about getting the QUIZ Brand identity out there. Focusing on targeting the QUIZ customer and providing content in which they will engage with. Then it?s about targeting the wider market and thinking of new and exciting ways we can encourage new members of the public to shop with us.

SMP: What are the challenges that you?ve encountered and how are you overcoming them in what you have been doing so far at QUIZ Clothing?

AS: Certain challenges may be trying to provide different content from competitors and ensuring that when followers/ customers look at certain content online they know it is QUIZ. We are overcoming this by branding our company daily. From using unique hashtags or colour palettes and imagery, all contributes to pushing that strong brand message out there.

SMP: What are the high moments of what you have been doing so far?

AS: Seeing our ideas and campaigns come to life. We have received a great reaction from our latest campaign and range #GirlsOfSummer. It?s nice to see all the hard work that gets put in paying off and sending a clear message of who QUIZ are and what we aim to provide and achieve.

SMP: What are the main social channels are you using, why and which are the most effective for QUIZ?

AS: Our social accounts include:

Facebook

Instagram
Twitter
Pinterest
Snapchat quizofficial
YouTube

The channels we see the most engagement from at the moment are Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. These are the three most current social platforms and we find that a lot of our customers are active mostly on these. We are looking at new platforms such as Snapchat and trying to push more on this platform. It allows us to provide live content and feed it directly to our customers.

SMP: What sort of activity / engagement are you receiving across the social channels that you use and how do you create / sustain this?

AS: On Facebook we currently have 310K followers where we receive good feedback and engagement on product based posts and videos. We find that a lot of our customer base is active on Facebook.

On Instagram we are constantly trying to improve and become more of an Instagram brand. We are currently sitting at 71k followers on Instagram and 85.3k on Twitter. We feel these platforms target a younger market so it is important to provide diverse non-product focused content on these platforms also.

SMP: How are you making your content different, standout and resonate with your audiences?

AS:
We are continually trying to provide different content such as ?Style Steals? or working with established or up and coming bloggers. This provides diverse content for our social channels and pushes our name across different profiles and social platforms.

SMP: What do you see as your biggest challenges and opportunities for your sector and the competition that you have?

AS:
Retail is very fast paced and ever changing, therefore it is important that we keep on top of what competitor brands may be doing but to also keep in mind our unique brand identity when doing so. A challenge sometimes may be having no sense of direction within a project etc. but it is important to not lose sight of what the brand is all about. This will help overcome any challenges, opportunities or competition.

SMP: What is the most challenging part of building upon your brand presence in digital environments for the fashion industry?

AS: Keeping up with competitors and aiming to work with diverse people that can push your brand identity. It?s important to find bloggers, vloggers, socialites etc. that other companies haven?t yet worked with.

SMP: What do you think is going to be the most interesting aspect regarding social media, social networks and/or technology for the next 12 to 18-months?

AS: I think in the coming months it is going to become more virtual for customers in relation to online shopping and digital marketing. Within social media I think a big aspect to be pushing in the coming months will be more video based content, either providing live content through platforms such as Snapchat or use of ?Vloggers? on YouTube.

SMP: What are your top predictions for social media for the next 12 to 18-months and why?

AS replies with:

  • More use of Vlogger content ? From beauty vloggers, to fashion bloggers using YouTube as an additional platform, I feel this will be a big push in the coming months.
  • Making social media more shopable. Looking at using different platforms that can feed our products directly onto our social media platforms for customers.
  • I think Snapchat will be a huge platform in the coming months. We will focus on providing more diverse live content for followers from new in product to attending events.
  • More use of collaborations with high profile celebrities.

SMP: What are your top overall social media tips and why?

AS replies with:

  • Remember what your brand is all about and constantly try to push that message out there.
  • Focus on building your brand on particular platforms before you try them all out. It?s important to have an engaged audience on at least two platforms than less engagement across five social platforms.
  • Make as much relations as possible. From bloggers to other businesses it?s important to make good relationships throughout. This can lead to collaborations or improving your social and brand awareness.
  • Stay relevant. From attending events or providing up to date content with current trends it?s important to be providing exciting content for followers every day.
  • Don?t forget to have fun, it?s important to show that your brand is fun and creative every day. This can be from fun head office content or attending events.
