DesiMartini bares a striking resemblence in both design and functionality to popular social network, Facebook.

Just over twelve months ago, Xiaonei.com a Chinese Facebook copy aimed at the college student was purchased for an undisclosed sum. It was acquired by Oak Pacific Interactive (OPI) and merged it with their own college community site 5Q.

StudiVZ in Germany also shares the Facebook obsession, and were acquired in early 2007 for $100 million USD.  The German Financial Times reported that ?50 million was to be paid in cash.

There are a number of other Facebook clones such as Vkontakte in Russia and StudentFace from Australia.  As yet, Facebook have yet to pursue legal action against any of the above sites.
