New! GameUpTop Offerings from Leading Educational Games Publishers, Live on BrainPOP

NEW YORK/PRNewswire/ -- BrainPOP®, the award-winning creator of animated, educational resources, today launched GameUp?, a free resource that showcases top online educational game titles and offers materials to facilitate the effective use of games in the classroom.

Increasingly, educators around the globe are recognizing the impact educational games can have in their classrooms: games engage and motivate students in a way that's meaningful for them. But educators also know how hard it can be to find appropriate online games that tie in to curriculum and include relevant support materials.  Launched at the International Society for Technology in Education annual conference (ISTE), BrainPOP's GameUp (brainpop.com/games) addresses this challenge.

The new games site features titles from leading organizations such as iCivics, Filament Games, Nobelprize.org®, Michigan State University Gel Lab, Boston Children's Hospital Generation Cures, PlayPower Foundation, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' (NCTM) Calculation Nation®, the Space Science Institute's SciGames, The Learning Games Network, E-Line Media, and BrainPOP itself. Included topics span Science, Math, Social Studies, and Technology, for elementary, middle, and high school. Based on educator feedback at ISTE, GameUp will be further enriched for the 2011-2012 school year, and will continue to grow via community involvement thereafter.

"One of our main priorities at BrainPOP is to create resources that bridge the knowledge gap for students and make it easier for teachers to achieve their goals in the classroom," said Avraham Kadar, M.D., Founder and CEO of BrainPOP. "It has been tremendously fulfilling to partner with this phenomenal group of developers and creators to introduce this collection of safe, trusted educational games. We are thrilled to have joined forces on a tool that will empower teachers and students, and enhance learning in school or at home."

Access to each game, as well as the teacher materials, academic standard alignments, and at least one related BrainPOP topic, is free.
