Popular Japanese Card-Battle Game Also Demonstrates Strong Monetization across the West

TOKYO--()--Cygames, Inc. and DeNA Co., Ltd. have announced today that the smartphone social card battle game Rage of Bahamut (original title, ?Shingeki-No-Bahamut?) provided on the Mobage network, has topped Google Play?s Top Grossing chart in the U.S. this week. The successful title ranked second in Sweden, sixth in Canada and seventh in the Netherlands for top-grossing apps on Google Play.

?Rage of Bahamut demonstrates that Japanese developers? expertise in social games can be applied effectively overseas?

Rage of Bahamut is a fantasy adventure game in which players roam the world, drawing out powers from cards. After choosing between ?Man?, ?Gods? or ?Demons?, each player sets out to become the greatest adventurer in the land by crushing enemies in battles and quests. Players build and strengthen themselves as well as their teams by collecting, synthesizing and evolving a variety of unique cards.

?With Rage of Bahamut as our first franchise, we intend to continue providing the best quality games for players worldwide for exciting gaming experiences,? said Koichi Watanabe, President of Cygames, Inc.

?Rage of Bahamut demonstrates that Japanese developers? expertise in social games can be applied effectively overseas,? said Isao Moriyasu, Representative Director and President of DeNA. ?The success that the title has achieved also shows that a browser-based game can generate a remarkable average revenue per user in the West with the right game design and the savvy in introducing apps to the marketplace.?

?We are carefully looking at titles that can successfully cross over East and West territories and selectively introducing games on Mobage that have the right ingredients,? Neil Young, CEO of ngmoco and a director of DeNA, noted. ?The instant success of Rage of Bahamut is an encouraging indication that people everywhere simply love to play great games.?
