Staples Center & Hollywood Bowl Named Top Venues for Social Photos & Videos in WESAWIT Rankings

? WESAWIT releases fan engagement scores of top U.S. venues ?

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WESAWIT published its first monthly rankings of the best U.S. venues in terms of social fan engagement. Through a proprietary technology that scans the social web for fan photos and videos posted at music and sports events, WESAWIT is able to rank venues, artists and sports teams according to their fans? social posting behavior.

?Photo and video sharing is an increasing part of the fan experience. By analyzing these fan photos and videos, it is possible to determine which venues, artists or sports teams generate the best social engagement among their fans?

?Photo and video sharing is an increasing part of the fan experience. By analyzing these fan photos and videos, it is possible to determine which venues, artists or sports teams generate the best social engagement among their fans,? says Thibault Mathieu, CEO of WESAWIT.

Out of the 25 venues tested in this study, the top 3 venues in terms of engagement in November 2013 are Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles), with an average of 3.1% of spectators posting photos or videos at events, followed by Staples Center (Los Angeles) at 2.6% and Madison Square Garden (NYC) at 2.2%. When looking at the average number of photos and videos posted per event, Staples Center ranks first (781), followed by Hollywood Bowl (752) and American Airlines Arena (641).

The number of photos and videos posted per event ranges between 780 and 426 for the top 10 venues. On average, there is one photo or video posted on social networks for every 35 spectators.

Looking at major artists who toured at the top 25 venues in November, Kanye West has driven the most fan engagement with an average of 1127 fan photos and videos posted per concert. He is followed by Justin Timberlake (819), Drake (804), Rihanna (544), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (531), Nine Inch Nails (519), Selena Gomez (337), Pink (327), and Michael Buble (324).

?Artists generate diverse levels of engagement from one concert to the next, highlighting the role of venues in encouraging fans to post but also the potential differences in social media behavior across the U.S.? says Morgan Rostagnat, President.

Venues can increase media sharing by encouraging and showcasing fan content on their social media pages. For example, Staples Center has boosted fan engagement by introducing free WiFi inside the venue.

WESAWIT's measurement system uses an algorithm that automatically aggregates all fan photos and videos posted at events. Through geotag and contextual analysis, WESAWIT is able to match any fan photo or video to a specific event, anywhere in the world ? no hashtag required.
